Cycle 4 includes 5e, 4e, and 3e. It is based on the adjusted programs of BO n°31 of July 30, 2020, which remain the reference in 2026-2027.
The three updates that apply
- Modern languages — BO n°22 of May 29, 2025.
- Moral and civic education — BO n°24 of June 13, 2024.
- Education on affective, relational, and sexual life — BO n°6 of February 6, 2025.
The misleading point: French and mathematics
The French and mathematics programs published in April 2025 concern cycles 1, 2, and 3. They do not apply to cycle 4 in 2026-2027. A 5e student therefore does not work on the same mathematics text as a 6e student, even though both are in middle school.
History-geography: distribution by year
As in cycle 3, only history and geography themes are distributed by level. 4e and 3e inherit the rest of the cycle program.
